Plan Your Trip

Hells Canyon

Hells Canyon is North America’s deepest gorge, and it also has some of Idaho’s biggest whitewater. Come see what all the excitement is about from the comfort and safety of a jet boat.

Salmon River

One of America’s premier backcountry rivers. The Main Salmon has it all: stunning scenery, incredible history, hot springs, and rowdy rapids. Whether you are out for the day, staying at a lodge along the river, or floating down and getting a jet back to your vehicles, the Main Salmon River will surely leave you ready to start planning your next trip back to this beautiful area.

Clearwater River

Located in Central Idaho, the Clearwater River promises some of the best fisheries the state has to offer. With the added ability to go up and downstream, you can cover more water in one day than you would ever think is possible. Plus, jet boat captains on this river are well-versed in where the big ones are!

Things to consider when planning your trip

What type of trip are you looking for?

Consider which type of trip is the right fit for you to ensure that you get exactly what you are looking for out of your vacation. Scenic tours, fishing trips, hunting trips, whitewater adventures, and so much more are available through Idaho’s jet boat operators.

Is one day not enough?

Many people would like to spend more than one day on their jet boat adventure. Some of our outfitters provide different styles of multi-day trips for you and your loved ones to extend your stay and your fun.

What about food?

Jetboat operations provide food for clients while out on their adventure.

Will I need a fishing License?

If you plan on taking a fishing trip, you will need to acquire an Idaho Fishing License before departing on your trip.

Will I need a hunting license?

If you plan on a hunting trip, you will need to acquire an Idaho Hunting License before departing on your trip.

Do I need a life jacket?

Jetboat operators will provide lifejackets to all clients. If you have a lifejacket that you own and prefer to wear, don’t be afraid to bring it along. Your captain will let you know if it meets the required Coast Guard Regulations before departing.

What other gear do I need?

It never hurts to cover all of your bases. Sunscreen, headache medicine, a water bottle, or any gear you can't go without, you should consider bringing with you.

How much should I tip my guide?

Your guide was up late last night preparing your trip and got up early to review every detail, and is going to lose or break a lot of their own gear. Consider 20% or more. They did way more extra work than the server at the diner, all while maintaining safety in a wild environment, so please let them know you appreciate their craft.

Do I need trip insurance?

Buy travel insurance. It is great for lots of things but if for any reason you ever need to be evacuated from the wilderness areas you will be exploring, those bills stack up quickly and a good travel insurance policy may cover something like that.
